The
Dublin Swift is named after Jonathan Swift, one of Dublin's most
renowned literary figures. But while the Dean of St Patrick's
Cathedral was a frequent traveller across the Irish Sea
to Holyhead three hundred years ago, he could never have
anticipated the journey taking just 1 hour 49 minutes!
Thanks to the catamaran design, the Dublin Swift can carry
up to 800 passengers and 200 cars at a service speed of
39 knots. Built in Fremantle Australia, the Dublin Swift's
epic journey to Ireland from half way around the world
is a tribute to her capabilities.
